We aim to make access to healthy food, exercise and green space available to all.

Roots4Life is a new charity set up to equip people with the tools to live more healthily.

We are based at a new, purpose built community centre, named ‘The Baker Centre’. The centre is situated on an 8.6 acre site, which is home to a Teaching Kitchen, Growing Beds (food), Orchard, Trim Trail, Grass Amphitheatre and a Wildlife Pond.

Why was Roots4Life created?

The UK faces major health problems, with obesity and diet-related disease costing the NHS £6.5 billion a year. These issues are twice as prevalent in the most deprived areas.

Two thirds of the UK’s population are overweight or obese.

Type 2 diabetes in the under 40s has risen by 20% in the last 5 years.

Loneliness is associated with an increased risk of developing coronary heart disease, strokes, and dementia and is estimated to be as harmful as 15 cigarettes a day.

1 in 4 Londoners do not have access to green space.

  • “Fantastic team. Thank you for what you do for the kids! First team of staff I have come across that actually ‘care’ about young people and really drive a positive ethos and guidance.”

  • “The food the children made was fantastic. We loved tasting what they had cooked and the fact that it was healthy, and vegetarian as well was eye-opening. Can we have copies all of the recipes please?”
